The reported age at date implies a birthdate of 13 Sep 1850. The 1900 census said that he was born Sep 1851.

Morgan Co., Ky, Kentucky birth records list Cousby Meadows, born 16 July 1853, father Mathew Meadows, mother’s maiden name Susanah Malton.

I cannot find this family in the 1880 census. The families of both of their parents are in Elk Fork precinct, Lewis Co., Ky, as are nearly all of Cosby’s brothers and sisters. So they may have been living there, and just been missed by the census.

Thomas should probably be listed as a Kegley, the same one recorded as Wm T. in 1900. Lewis and Cosby’s only known son is Tyree, and he had no son named Thomas. If so, though,
