The 1860 census lists him as age 6, the 1870 census lists him as 14, and the 1880 census lists him as 23. Since his younger brother John was born on 29 Dec 1855 (and that birth was registered), he was probably really born in 1854.

His death certificate records Marcus Fraley, age 61, born in 1855 in Ky, died 7 Feb 1917 in Rowan Co., Ky, marital status blank, father Wilis Fraley, mother’s maiden name Prislia Fults, both born in Ky, cause of death dropsy, informant James Fraley.

The ages for both Marcus and Julia in this census are considerably older than implied by all other records.
